industry. The CCIE Routing and Switching exam covers IP and IP routing, non-IP desktop protocols such as IPX, and bridge and switch related technologies.
A CCIE Routing and Switching certified individual can perform the following tasks:

- Understand and apply network protocols for routers, switches, bridges and security

- Handle difficult design and troubleshooting issues

Self-study for the CCIE Certification exam is probably the single most important factor determining success or failure. The CCIE Certification lab exam is a practical exam - your self-study must be practical as well.
Passing the CCIE Certification lab exam requires knowledge of the Cisco command set and a facility with using the commands that only comes with repeated practice in different scenarios.
