Description

The DESGN training course for CCDA certification is critical for any student interested in learning fundamental and advanced techniques for designing a scalable and robust Cisco ® Internetwork. Goals achieved in this training course include the promotion of the new modular approach to network design that has been intuitively used for the last few years by the most successful Cisco network designers. The early modular approaches to network design divided networks into access, distribution and core layers only. This was done separately for the campus and the WAN. The new Enterprise Composite Internetwork Model facilitates designing, planning, implementing, operating and troubleshooting networks by concentration on a certain module and on relations between the modules. This extremely detailed course takes into account the most popular and exciting technologies found in networks today - including voice, video, storage networking, content networking and other overlay solutions.

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Assess the customer requirements and the customers existing situation
  • Design a network addressing plan
  • Select optimal routing protocols for the network
  • Recognize network management criteria for the network
  • Recognize security criteria for the network
  • Plan the design implementation
  • Explain the network design and its impact to the customer
  • Describe the principles of network design and present the guidelines for building a network design solution
  • Describe how the Enterprise Composite Network model simplifies the complexity of today's networks
  • Design the Enterprise Campus in a hierarchical modular fashion
  • Design the Enterprise WAN network
  • Access the design implications of voice transport across the network
  • Decimal to binary conversion and vice-versa
  • Classful IP addresses and private IP address ranges
  • How and why we use Subnetworks
  • Calculating the number of subnets and hosts available using a custom Subnet mask
Calculating the network number, broadcast address, and valid range of host addresses when given an IP address and custom Subnet mask

Audience

The DESGN course was developed for networking professionals who want to learn more about network design principles from the Cisco point of view. This course is also the recommended training program for those individuals seeking the Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA ™) certification.

Prerequisites

Prior to taking this course, students should be familiar with basic internetworking technologies such as LAN, WAN, bridging, switching, protocols, and network management. Successful completion of the following courses (or equivalent experience) is strongly recommended:

  • CCNA Certification
