Cisco ® CallManager Express IPTX is a solution embedded in Cisco ® IOS Software that provides call processing for Cisco ® IP phones. This solution enables the large
portfolio of Cisco ® access and integrated services routers to deliver a robust set of features commonly used by business users, thereby enabling deployment of a
cost-effective, highly reliable, IP Communications solution for the small office. Thanks to CallManager Express, customers can now scale IP telephony to a small site or
branch office with a solution that is very simple to deploy, administer, and maintain. The Cisco ® CallManager Express solution provides customers with a low-cost, reliable, feature-rich solution for a
deployment of up to 240 users.
Cisco ® Unity Express expands the Cisco ® IP Communications portfolio by providing integrated, entry-level, voice
mail and automated attendant services for the enterprise branch office or small to medium sized business. Operating
under Cisco ® CallManager Express or Cisco ® CallManager control, it offers a cost-effective voice mail solution for up
to 100 users working in an enterprise small branch office or in a small business with one or more locations.
The IP Telephony Express (IPTX) course allows students to master the important CallManager Express and Unity
Express products. Students learn to combat the challenges faced when configuring and deploying both systems.

Objectives Upon completion of the IP Telephony Express (IPTX) course, the student will be trained to:
- Describe the similarities and differences between a traditional public switched telephone network, voice networks, and IP telephony solutions
- Explain the processes and standards for voice digitization, compression, and digital signaling as they relate to VoIP networks
- Configure voice interfaces on Cisco ® voice-enabled equipment for connection to traditional, nonpacketized telephony equipment
- Configure the Cisco ® CallManager Express system from either the CLI or a GUI web interface
- Understand and configure the devices for and connections to the Cisco ® CallManager Express system
- Configure the call flows for plain old telephone service, VoIP, and default dial peers
- Describe the fundamentals of VoIP, and identify challenges and solutions regarding its implementation
- Install and configure the Cisco ® Unity Express module for voice mail services
- Troubleshoot both Cisco ® CallManager Express and Cisco ® Unity Express
- Apply QoS to the IP network with the use of the AutoQoS
- Apply your knowledge of Cisco ® CallManager Express and Cisco ® Unity Express to deploy and design an installation

Audience

Training Prerequisites
By definition, Voice over IP (VoIP) uses an IP internetwork for its voice transport. To fully comprehend the concepts and technologies taught in this course, a working knowledge of LANs, WANs, and IP switching and routing is essential.
Although this is a packetized voice course, knowledge of traditional public switched telephone network (PSTN) operations and voice fundamentals would be helpful.
