There are several questions you need to ask yourself in considering the type of training you want to select.
- Money- How much funds do you have allocated for your training?
Training from highest cost to lowest costs: Live Classes, Online Live Classes, Self Study CD Course, Self Study Online Training
A.) Do you need financing? How is your Credit?
- Time- How many hours a week can you allocated to your training? To be Successful in your training you must allocate at least 10-15 hours per week for training.
A)Do you have time to do extensive training over a short period of time? Boot Camps can get you certified in 14 days providing you have the correct experience.
- Experience- What level of experience do you have? PC User? PC Technician? Network Administrator?
Students with no experience should consider the A+ and
Network+ courses first as a prerequisite before starting MCSA or MCSE training.
- Objective- Are you looking for a MCSA or MCSE certification? This should be based on your level of experience.
Microsoft Recommends at least 1-2 years filed experience for anyone considering getting a MCSE Certification. Students who lack experience may want to consider the MCSA track which includes the CompTIA A+ and
Network+ as the elective.
A).If you are looking to be a MCSE, what track are you looking to do?There are several options to consider. It is
recommended to the track which would best serve your present postion, or the track that would provide the best opportunity for new employment.
- Your Future- Were you would like to be 2 to 4 years from now. Technology changes quickly, so you always want to plan ahead.
Employment
There are several steps one should consider in positioning yourself for employment in the IT Industry.
1) As you are going through your MCSE training spend some time browsing the internet and reading your local
newspaper. Look to see what qualification companies are looking for. Many employers are looking for specific areas of concentration.
There are many options in electives to consider in your MCSE Training.
- MCSE Security with CompTIA Security+
- MCSE Messaging with Exchange Server
- MCSE/MCITP Combination with SQL 2005
- System Manager Server SMS
- BizTalk Server
- ISA Server
2) Use the local headhunters from Agencies. They are the most knowledgeable in your locality for jobs as well as what employers are looking for.
3) Search the Web. Use your favorite web browser. There are many great web sites that list employment opportunities.
Many companies have switched to placing listing over the internet than listing with an employment agency or local newspaper.
4) Use the old fashion Sunday Newspaper. Besides looking for the job opportunities, looks to see they qualifications companies are looking for.
5) Be patient- This maybe the hardest task but it is time that can be used wisely. If you are looking to enter the field,
consider donating your service to an organization. This could provide you invaluable experience until your first job comes
. Students with experience should use any free time as time to upgrade their skills or bring their skills up to date.
