Cisco Optical Classes

cisco optical classes

Originally designed for service provider voice networks, optical networking technology is rapidly expanding to business end users. Large enterprises now consider it to be the transport medium of choice for mission-critical networks.

Optical networking can help organizations:

  •     Reduce capital and operational costs
  •     Simplify service provisioning
  •     Support a wide range of new, high-bandwidth applications
  •     Improve manageability, scalability, and efficiency
  •     Overcome distance limitations

An optical backbone can expand, providing service flexibility, resiliency, and optimizing the fiber infrastructure. It also reduces the need to maintain multiple wide area networks. In addition, it can help organizations meet business continuance objectives, which require a highly available network infrastructure.

Cisco Optical Network Systems 15454 transmission products are the industry benchmark for dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM), Synchronous Optical Networking (SONET), and packet transmission by Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Transport Protocol. Cisco Learning Services' optical training offers industry-leading courses that highlight applications and implementations supported by the Cisco ONS 15454 systems.

Training Classes Cover

Netwind Learning Center offers several classes to training you in the latest Cisco Optical  applications and equipment. Training is designed for individuals who install, deploy, and maintain these systems.

Netwind Learning Center offers courses that highlight the various applications and implementations supported by the Cisco ONS 15454. This includes courses on the SONET multiservice provisioning platform (MSPP) and multiservice transport platform (MSTP) for dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM). These courses include hands-on lab exercises and are designed for individuals who install, deploy, and maintain the Cisco ONS 15454 in these various environments. The Carrier Packet Transport course teaches Ethernet connectivity using MPLS.  The DWDM courses include Cisco Transport Planner software that facilitates the design of the DWDM optical network. SONET covers fiber-based time-division multiplexing. T

Courses Available

COTI - Cisco Optical Technology Intermediate

Learn the skills necessary to deploy a Cisco Optical Networking System (ONS) 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP) network from installation to protection. In this course, you will learn how to perform node turn-up. The course covers three shelf types-the M12, M6, and M2. You will learn how to deploy linear and ring dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) topologies. Additionally, you will learn about multiplexer-demultiplexer cards, Erbium -doped fiber amplifier cards, Raman amplifiers, transponder cards, and the newest Cisco Any Rate muxponder and crossponder cards

COTA - Cisco Optical Technology Advanced

Learn the advanced features of Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP) and Network Convergence System (NCS) 2000 Series dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM). In this course, you will learn how to design DWDM networks using the Cisco Transport Planning (CTP) tool. Additionally, you will learn how the 40- and 80-channel mesh networks are designed. You will demonstrate how to set up a six-node WXC-based 40- or 80 -channel mesh network. You also learn how the 40-channel SMR1 and/or SMR2 network is designed and set up a six-node 40-channel network.

    ONS-TDM-SONET -

Optical Network Systems Time Division Multiplexing SONET v9.2 - Optical . In this lab-intensive course, you will get an introduction to the Cisco Optical Network System (ONS) Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) family of transport products, including hands-on work with an ONS 15454, ONS 15600, ONS 15310-MA, and ONS-15310-CL. The ONS 15454, ONS 15310-MA, and ONS 15310-CL are SONET transport system components that can be mixed and matched to create high-speed optical transport networks.
