Basic Administration Training Course

The first course in the SCO SVR 5 implementation track covers basic user and  system administration in the Unixware environment. It focuses on the common  skills that an administrator will perform and how they are handled in this flavor of Unix.

Requirement - This course requires an older Java Runtime Version 1.4X. The Download of Java Runtime 1.4x is available from our web site (Java Runtime 1.4x). Not Compatible with Windows 7 or Vista. Can view with Windows XP Only

  • Modify user settings by using the Account Manager.

  • Modify group accounts with the Account Manager.

  • Identify factors to consider when selecting backup media.

  • Identify the features of the ARCserveIT utility.
  • Identify the procedure for recovering from a system disaster.

Unit 3: Optimizing the System: Duration: 2 Hour(s)

  • Monitor processes by using the ps command.
  • Modify processes by using the Process Manager.
  • Schedule a process by using the Task Scheduler.
  • Identify the features of the System Logs Manager.
  • Identify the features of the System Monitor utility.
  • Identify the CLI performance monitoring commands.
  • Identify optimal system performance parameters.
  • Identify the features of devices and drivers in UnixWare 7.
  • Identify the features of the device configuration utility (DCU).
  • Configure a device using the Device Configuration utility (DCU).

Part 2: Network Administration Course

This second course in the SCO SVR 5 implementation track covers  internetworking connectivity, systems, services, and security. Wherever  possible, It focus's on the tools and features specific to SCO SVR5.

Learn To:

  • Identify the features of the Printer Setup Manager.
  • Identify the command-line interface (CLI) commands used to configure  printing in UnixWare 7.
  • Identify the UnixWare 7 SAC commands.
  • Identify the features of the Network Configuration Manager.
  • Identify the features of the Client Manager utility.
  • Identify the features of WAN connection media.
  • Identify the ways in which NFS clients access shared resources.
  • Identify the ways Network File System (NFS) servers share resources.
  • Identify the features of the NFS automounter.

  • Configure a Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP) server.
  • Identify the features of the DNS Manager.

  • Install NetWare Services (NWS).
